October 31: Halloween
December 23 - January 6: Christmas Vacation
February 11 - 17: Winter Break

Attendance:
Classes should be attended regularly as every class missed will put the student behind the others. There will be no refund if classes are missed. However, a student may make up the class if there is another appropriate class available. Please call if you know that your child will be absent from his or her dance class.

Class Fees:
Please contact the studio for fee information.

Payment:
A non-refundable registration fee of $15 per child, up to a maximum of $30 per family, is due at time of registration. We ask that all fees be paid in the form of post-dated cheques and accompany your registration form. You may choose to pay in one lump sum dated September 1, make three installments dated September 1, December 1, and March 1, or make 9 installments dated the first of every month. There will be a $25 fee on all NSF cheques and a 15% charge per month on all outstanding balances past 30 days. If payment is not made within 60 days, your child will be asked to discontinue his or her dance classes until account is cleared.

Costume Fees:
There will be a costume deposit of $30 per class due with all registration forms. Please post-date this payment for October 1, 2007. Costume fees vary from class to class but we guarantee that all Creative Dance, Pre-Primary, Primary 1 and Combo costumes will not exceed $40. There are no costume fees for Hip Hop, Boys Only or Teacher’s Training.

Refunds:
If a decision is made to terminate classes during the year, all remaining post-dated cheques will be returned upon written notification. There is also no refund on costume deposits after October 31.

Physical Limitations:
The instructor must be notified immediately about any injury or limitation your child might have. This is extremely important to ensure safe training at the studio.

Announcements:
Monthly newsletters are sent via email or with your child. It is a good idea to stop in and read the bulletin board on occasion as this contains valuable information. You can also stay updated by checking this website.

Dual Studio Enrollment:
Dance Innovations offers quality dance education in a variety of disciplines. Any student wishing to attend classes at another studio must obtain permission from the Artistic Director.

Parent Viewing:
There will be two weeks in which the parents may sit in on their child’s class. These dates are to be announced later in the year.

Exams:
A.D.A.P.T. Jazz and Tap exams are set for the beginning of December and RAD ballet exams are set November – December. Students are entered into exams at the discretion of the instructor and may not necessarily enter an exam each year. RAD suggests 2 years at the Grade 3-4 level and ADAPT suggests 2 years at some point during the Pre-Intermediate levels. Dance Innovations will consider their suggestions. Please note, during exam time, the instructor reserves the right to cancel regular classes during exam days.

Competition:
All students are welcome to participate in competition at the group level which will be rehearsed during class. If you are not interested in having your child participate in exams, you are encouraged to register in the Recreational classes. Extra competition work is only for the committed dancer. Instructors will select students for out of class groups or solo / duet work based on effort in class and previous competition experience.

Year–End Production:
All students, except those registered in sessional classes, participate in the Year End Production during the first weekend of June. This is the student’s chance to perform and show their family and friends what they have accomplished during the year.

Questions and Concerns:
All instructors at Dance Innovations are educated and experienced in teaching dance to children. However, we also know that nobody knows a child better than his/her parent. If at anytime any questions arise, please do not hesitate to discuss them with your child’s instructor or the Director. We ask that you do this during non-teaching hours so that the instructor may give you their full attention without taking away from another child’s class.

Grooming:
This is an extremely important aspect of dance. Hair must be in a bun or off of the neck for ballet and tied back in a ponytail or something similar for jazz, tap or creative dance.

Studio Dancewear:
Please see listing at our fall dancewear sale.
