Tammy began her training at the age of two and a half years years in Calgary, Alberta. This training continued when the family moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she graduated from high school. Throughout her training as a dance student, she participated in numerous competitions and attended workshops and summer schools. She began teaching as a Junior Teacher at the young age of 14 years and knew then, she had found her passion. It was only natural that after graduating from high school, she would pursue a career in teaching dance.
Tammy’s post-secondary studies have included extensive training in the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) syllabus in Toronto as well as Missoula, Montana where she obtained a BFA in Dance – Teacher’s Training, and a BA in Psychology. She has been responsible for implementing creative dance into daycare programs, dance movement therapy programs into geriatric facilities and more recently, spearheading the Dance Academy program at the local High School. Tammy’s dedication to quality training takes her away to courses on a regular basis. She is an accredited teacher of the A.D.A.P.T. Jazz and Tap syllabus and a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance, teaching diploma, with a mark of Distinction. She is also a Certified Instructor in Progressive Ballet Technique, Alixa Flexibility and Shumka Ukrainian Dance.
She is in demand as both an adjudicator and workshop instructor and is honored to be selected as the choreographer for Yorkton Community Theatre. Past credits include Oklahoma, Hello Dolly, Crazy for You, Music Man, My Fair Lady and Annie Get Your Gun.
Miss Tammy is a very dynamic teacher who always brings a lot of energy into her classes. She creates an environment that challenges her students to work to their potential while respecting and celebrating a team atmosphere. Her high quality of teaching has been recognized by national adjudicators and instructors and she has been recognized for her innovative choreography for special events such as the Royal Visit to Yorkton as well as the Olympic Torch Celebration. More recently, Tammy was selected to choreograph for Team Canada where she led the Canadian Tap Team to the World Tap Dance Championships in Germany in December 2014. Tammy looks forward to continuing to play a vital role in the Yorkton community and is excited to share the studio’s 23rd season with everyone.

Joanne trained with Helen Bailey at the Helen Louise Academy of Dance from age 11, and was an associate at Birmingham Royal Ballet Senior Associates. She also performed with the National Ballet of Great Britain from 1988 to 1994. At 15, Joanne gained a coveted place at The Royal Ballet Upper School, graduating with their Teachers Training Course Diploma in 1997. During her time at RBS she had many opportunities to perform with the company in “walk on” roles and enjoyed assisting and teaching at White Lodge and for the Associate program.
As well as Classical Ballet, Joanne is qualified to teach Royal Ballet Repertoire, Character, Classical Spanish Dance and Contemporary Dance, and holds STOTT Pilates Matwork Certificate. Joanne has also gained her Cecchetti and National Advanced exams and holds Registered Teacher status with the Royal Academy of Dance. She also has her Imperial Society (ISTD) Cecchetti Ballet and National Dance Teaching Associate, Benesh Dance Notation exams, Adapt Jazz and Tap teaching certificate and Shumka Ukranian Dance Teacher qualifications.
Joanne joined the staff of Dance Innovations in September 1999 and has taught students of all age groups throughout the school. She took a short break from teaching while starting their young family. She has 2 boys, aged 3 and 5 (also dancing at the studio). Joanne is excited to be returning to the studio and looks forward to the upcoming dance year!
Shelby studied at Dance Innovations throughout her childhood. She completed many exams in Jazz, Tap and Ballet and has attended many competitions. She also had the opportunity to attend several dance conventions and travelled to Vancouver and Los Angeles to dance in a professional atmosphere and expand her creative world.
Shelby is a certified A.D.A.P.T Jazz and Tap instructor as well as a certificated Acrobatique instructor. Shelby has a strong background in Dance, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Cheerleading which enhances her ability to create and teach effectively. She believes in keeping herself educated and expanding her knowledge by attending teacher conventions and workshops. Miss Shelby has been recognized for her innovated and dynamic pieces with choreography awards.
She believes in high energy classes with education and pushing her students to succeed. Miss Shelby was an assistant for 3 years and is on her 7th year of teaching at Dance Innovations as well as 2nd year directing the Hip Hop program. The joy of teaching is overwhelming and Shelby feels honored to have the privilege to instruct at the studio that she grew up at as a child.
By day Shelby loves to help families find their “Home Sweet Home” as a Century 21 real estate agent.
Rena is a graduate of the Yorkton Regional High School where she was class Valedictorian in 2014. She is currently working towards her Business Accountancy Degree, as well building a career in dance education. Rena started dancing at Dance Innovations at the age of three where she was enrolled in creative dance, and then began training in all other disciplines.
Being a part of the Dance Innovations Performance Troupe has allowed her to travel to New York City, Disneyland, LA, and perform on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. In December of 2014, she was honored to be a member of the Canadian National Tap Team and travel to Germany to compete in the World Tap Dance Championships.
In 2010, Rena was asked to participate in the Teacher Training Program at Dance Innovations, and for two years she was an assistant, before becoming a teacher. Rena’s training includes; three years at the A.D.A.P.T. Teacher’s Training School where she graduated with the highest mark in her class as a certified A.D.A.P.T. teacher in July of 2016, she is an Acrobatique AcroDance Certified Junior and Intermediate Level Instructor in progress, she is pursuing the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies through the Royal Academy of Dance, and has taken teacher conventions in places such New York City and Phoenix. Rena loves to continue to educate herself, spread her passion for dance through her teaching, and cherishes every moment in class. She is honoured to be a member of the Dance Innovations staff.
Kaytia is currently in Grade 12 and an Honor Roll with Distinction student at Sacred Heart. She began her dance training at the age of 2 and fell in love with it immediately. Kaytia has completed her Pre-Advanced Tap and Jazz ADAPT exams as well as her Advanced 1 and Grade 8 Ballet RAD exams.
She has been involved in many dance performances such as competing with Team Canada for the World Tap Championships in Riesa,Germany during the years of 2011 and 2014 as well as taking part in the Rockettes Summer Intensive in New York City. She has received many awards and scholarships including Junior Miss CanDance runner up. Outside of dance, Kaytia takes part in drama and singing lessons and is involved with the St Gerard’s Church Choir.
Kaytia is currently in her third year of teaching at the studio after completing her teachers training program at Dance Innovations and assisting year. Her favourite aspect about teaching is seeing all of the young children’s faces, eager and ready to learn and she loves hearing the happiness in the voices of children as they smile, sharing stories about their day. Kaytia is very proud and honoured to be part of the wonderful staff at Dance Innovations.
Emma is in grade 11 and an honour student at the Yorkton Regional High School. She began dancing at age 4 and has loved it since the first day. Emma has completed her teacher’s training course here at Dance Innovations as well as one year assisting in various classes. Her favourite moment during her assisting year was creating a “family” with all the young children and watching them learn with smiles on their faces.
Emma has completed her Grade 6 and Intermediate RAD Ballet exam, as well as her Intermediate 1 ADAPT Tap and Jazz exams. She has also participated in many performances such as performing on the Canadian Tap team in 2014, Disney parade, and dancing on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship that traveled to Bermuda. Emma has travelled to Los Angeles, Vancouver, and New York to participate in conventions and summer intensives. These opportunities gave her the chance to work many prestigious dancers and choreographers within the dance industry.
This year Emma is thrilled to be teaching Hip Hop at the studio and looking forward to creating a strong bond with her students and sharing her passion with others.
