Ballet
This classical form of dance is the basis for all dance forms. We follow the highly recognized RAD syllabus and encourage registration in ballet to accompany other classes. Barre work, Center, Adage, Allegro, Character and Free Movement are all aspects which are included in the ballet classes. Pointe and Repertoire are included at the higher levels. Children are examined in the Fall by international examiners if they are ready and families wish to persue this option.
Recreational Ballet classes are offered for those students who wish to strengthen other dance forms or sports as well as for those students wishing to enroll in one ballet class per week.
Students may enroll in ballet at the age of 5 years, or 4 years if they have already participated in one year of Creative Dance. The length of class is dictated by the grade in which the child is enrolled, as follows:
- Pre-Primary & Primary*: One 45-minute class per week
- Grade 1*: One 1-hour class per week
- Grade 2–5: Two 1-hour classes per week
- Vocational: Two 1¼-hour classes per week
- Pointe: 1 hour per week
- Recreational (Junior & Senior): 1 hour per week
*Please note: Primary and Grade 1 Ballet exam students may be asked to attend classes twice per week during the two months preceding the exam.
